Ongoing collaboration
An audio visual collaborative work together with the artist and designer Constança Pinheiro Torres. We work with memory material. Historical, emotional, conceptual.
Sound wise, this translates into recorded materials used as an ambiance, or even more so, like the quality of the light in a photograph. The texts relate to the experiences lived as sung or spoken poems, and the sound design translates the emotions carried in their unique presence. Visually, motifs, movements and patterns come into play and become a new animated form reacting to the music's energy.
For this project, we incorporated the works created by Dune under the umbrella of the Drawing Down the Moon masterclass given by the artist Emily Hunt. These works explore surrealism aesthetics and various techniques aiming to tune into the underworld and the mysteries of spontaneous creation.
Constança also worked with nature documentary excerpts combined with mysterious analog still photographs. While these may seem very distant from each other, putting them together reveals their strange familiarity.
Ongoing collaboration
This is a duo project in collaboration with the sound designer and creative modular synthesis explorer Para Vak.
Dune lays the harmonic landscape with her voice, creates textures and atmospheres with field recordings and spoken words.
Para Vak brings in the grounding elements with lower frequencies, the kicks and electrified rhythm sections combining patches and crafted instruments interacting with one another.
Together, they share a love for psychedelic music, the games of wild bpms changing speed into slowness, slow evolving harmonies combined with fast paced percussion creating tension between ground and sky.
ORIGA•ME
ORIGA•ME is a project that was created within the frame of Dune’s Bachelor project at Catalyst Institute Berlin and presented in April 2025 in the venue GlogauAIR.
Dune has been copying, rearranging, aggregating and reshaping notebooks written exclusively at night since 2010. Picked up in the lights of candles or in the midst of chaos (clubs), in semi-darkness that circumvents censorship (outdoor or deserted urban spaces visited during various lunar phases), in the body’s resources against the flow of its circadian rhythms (sleepless nights) and despite the lack of night vision, her writings set to music offer a deciphering of the breath, a transposition of emotion, a fine cartography of states from which a poetic substratum emerges.
From these writings treated as raw material to create collages-like poems, the use of field recordings and samples collected at night, she forms musical compositions that decode the silent substance of text.
ORIGA•ME is an invitation to unfold the signs of this intimate archaeology and witness both the raw material collected and the consequential musical pieces in the forms of an art exhibition, and a performed album.
Through the verb taken as paint or clay and the treated sound, she deconstructs the mechanism of directed thought, and opens up an alternative reading grid of intimate experience.
AMAIA
AMAIA is a dance short film created in 2025 and unfolding the topics of death, acceptance, resilience. It offers a perspective and explores the different stages of grief, the fight we can be driven to have against the irrevocable fact that our lives are ephemeral, without a word. Written and directed by Nina Strohmenger and choreographed by Julianna Walkczak, I was commissioned to compose the music for this piece.
inmyarms
inmyarms is an EP composed between May 2023 and February 2024. It is a collection of songs about the experience of being broken and re-building an inner landscape from scratch.
inmyarms is also a performance, created together with the artist Constança Pinheiro Torres in 2024. They presented this work together in April 2024 at Hosek Contemporary Berlin.
They created a choreography to be performed together with Dune's live singing. The movements and scenography were thought as an enhancer of the music's emotional message. Each song has its own landscape, lights, visuals, two chairs and fabrics. In this duo, Constança acts like a double of Dune's character, a bright shadow relating to her and embodying what happens internally in each of the songs, while this remains very open to interpretation.
They travel together through the story as one. A divided one, experiencing contrasted feelings and hesitations, imbalance and anger. The end of the EP is an open question, "Can I be Born Again ?"
This perspective refers to the fertilization of life's most difficult times into soil for the next chapters, for the being in evolution. This question perhaps already holds its own answer. Can one ask themselves such a thing without having started to be reborn ?
Heart, Faster Cracked Sublime - Live for Sommermünze at Alte Münze, September 2024
Live music performed with Dune’s own visuals, a portrait of a period of time, memories and emotions. Dune draws inspiration from the early Surrealism movement in cinema and painting to layer and animate moving photographs. The music is a collage of live singing and recorded material in various situations, processed with different tools and techniques, playing with feedback loops and resonances to enhance their expressiveness.
